San Diego Trip and Memorial

The Week of July 20th Rusty and I jumped on the Airplane and headed down to California for his grandparents memorial service and some time with the family. We had a heck of a time getting there do to some unforseen circumstances. The first airplane we got on had a high oil temperature and the pilot didn't think we would make our destination. So we turned around and head back to Boise. We waited about an hour and half to get a new plane which set our schedule back a bit. I didn't love the turn around trip because I about lost my lunch so I was not in the mood to eat. When we stopped in Sun Valley, Idaho to pick up some of our passengers the plane had a little trouble landing, scared even Rusty a little. We did get to LAX about 9:30 Pacific Time only to discover the airport didn't have a gate ready for us and about a half an hour later we were off the airplane. We were crabby, hungry and still had to pick up the car and drive to Carlsbad, CA.
We rode the shuttle to pick our rental and Rusty's words were, "... are we going to live or die" in reference to our Comando Shuttle driver. She weaved in and out between four lanes of slammed airport traffic. Once at our Car rental we had a little bump in the road there which we did end up solving. We stopped at a Burger King for Dinner (about 10:45ish) and then made the drive to Carlsbad. Got in about 12:30am. Yeah us.
But the trip was worth the crazy stuff. The whole Jacobs clan was made it to the memorial and the experience of seeing the ashes being spread in the ocean was quite moving. I think everyone felt it was an excellent tribute. Dinner was wonderful we all got to sit and talk to everyone. I had a blast with the nieces and nephews.
On that Thursday, we drove back to La Crescenta and spent Thursday and Friday with Russ and Linda. Also, got to see Matt, Alexa, and Carlie (She is getting so big). Saturday was the day we had slated to come back and a packed full day it was. We had breakfast with Matt and Alexa catching a quick glimps of Mike Garland and then headed down to spend some more time with Wes and Heather in San Pedro. It was a really good day. We had lunch down in a mexican restaurant in Long Beach and we got to see all the work that Wes and Heather and done on their house (Absolutely gorgeous). The plane ride back was thankfully uneventful we hung out with Faith back at the house and got Saturday to rest.
